Before we start, we would like to give everyone a clear overview of how the audition will work and what you can expect today.
1. WELCOME & PROJECT INTRODUCTION
We will start all together with a short introduction to the project.
* the idea and vision behind the project
* how the project and training will be structured in the future
* which trainers and choreographers are currently planned to be involved
* what participation will look like after the audition
* the expected training structure and commitment
* any future participation or training fees
* the next steps after today
You will also have the opportunity to ask organizational questions before we begin.
2. AUDITION
PART I: COMMERCIAL / HIP-HOP
The first audition block will focus on
Commercial / Hip-Hop
Step 1 Learn the Choreography
You will learn a short choreography of approximately 20–30 seconds.
The purpose is not to learn a long routine, but to give us enough material to see how you pick up choreography, move and perform.
Step 2 Independent Practice
After learning the choreography, everyone will have approximately 10–15 minutes of independent practice time.
Use this time however you need: practice by yourself, go through the choreography with others, or simply prepare for your showing.
Step 3 Group Showing
After the practice time, we will divide everyone into small groups.
Group size: usually around 3–5 dancers, depending on the final number of participants.
Each group will perform the choreography once for the judging team.
In some cases, we may ask an individual group to perform again. This does not automatically mean anything positive or negative we may simply want to see something again.
Step 4 Optional Freestyle
After the choreography, **the music will continue playing for a short moment**.
You are welcome to continue dancing and freestyle if you want to show us more of your movement, personality or performance quality.
**Freestyle is completely optional.**
You will not be disadvantaged if you choose not to freestyle.
3. AUDITION PART II:
CONTEMPORARY
After a maximum of approximately one hour, we will move directly into the second audition block:
Contemporary Dance
The structure will be essentially the same:
Learn choreography → independent practice → small group showing → optional freestyle
Again, the choreography will be short, followed by approximately 10–15 minutes of independent practice time before the group showings.
PARTICIPATION
You are completely free to choose which part of the audition you would like to attend.
You can audition for:
Commercial / Hip-Hop only
Contemporary only
or both styles
Participating in both is absolutely welcome, but it is not required.
Choose the style or styles in which you genuinely want to be considered for the project.
MUSIC
If you would like to practice with the audition music on your own phone, we can provide the track via AirDrop.
RESULTS
There will be no final selection announcement directly after the audition.
After the audition, the team will review the performances and make the final selection.
Everyone will receive their result afterwards via the email address or WhatsApp contact provided during registration.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
Come in, learn the choreography, show us how you move and enjoy the process.
We are not looking for everyone to dance exactly the same way.
We want to see movement quality, musicality, performance, individuality, potential and how you work with choreography.
